Full-Time, Maximum Term Position (12 months)
We are seeking a Youth Programs and Activities Coordinator to lead and deliver engaging youth programs in the remote community of Balgo (Wirrimanu). This role includes coordinating a range of activities, including the Junior Ranger Program, as part of a broader youth engagement and development focus.
Working closely with Aboriginal young people, Elders, Traditional Owners, families, schools and partner organisations, you will create meaningful opportunities that support wellbeing, learning, cultural connection and positive pathways for young people.
This is a hands-on, community-based and highly rewarding role, requiring flexibility, cultural awareness and a genuine passion for working with young people in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate and deliver a range of youth programs and activities, including Junior Ranger sessions, school-based engagement, recreational activities, and on country trips
Work closely with Elders, Traditional Owners and families to ensure strong cultural guidance and community involvement
Mentor and support young people, promoting wellbeing, confidence, engagement and positive pathways into education, training and employment
Coordinate logistics for activities including transport, equipment, scheduling, safety planning and risk assessments
Lead and coordinate reporting for funding bodies and internal stakeholders, ensuring timely, accurate and compliant submission of program data, outcomes and milestone acquittals
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with young people, ideally in community, youth work, education or program delivery settings
Strong cultural awareness and respectful engagement approach
Experience coordinating youth programs, activities or group facilitation
Demonstrated ability to coordinate and contribute to reporting for funding bodies, including collecting program data, documenting outcomes and meeting reporting timeframes
Ability to plan and supervise activities safely in a remote environment
Strong organisational and communication skills
Current Australian Driver’s Licence
First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain
Current WA Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain
National Police Check (not older than 6 months)
Salary and Benefits
A salary of $120,000 per annum plus superannuation
Annual Leave of 5 weeks plus 17.5% Annual leave loading
An additional 4 weeks of Special Leave per year (* based on an additional 7 hours worked each week)
