WHS Officer – FIFO 8/6 | Kai Rho Contracting

Kai Rho Contracting is a growing civil construction company delivering essential services to mining operations across Western Australia including waste management, fuel distribution, earthworks, civil works and dust suppression. We are seeking a practical, hands-on WHS Officer to join our close-knit site team on a FIFO 8/6 day shift roster.

This is a unique opportunity to step into a small, agile workforce of around 12 employees where you are not just a number. You will have real autonomy, variety and the ability to directly influence safety, quality and environmental outcomes across site operations. The role suits someone who enjoys being on the ground, working closely with operational teams and contributing to a strong, practical safety culture rather than a purely compliance driven environment.

You will bring at least two years' experience in WHS within mining, civil or construction environments along with a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety. A solid understanding of ISO 45001 is required, with awareness of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards as part of supporting broader site compliance systems. Strong Microsoft Office skills and the ability to quickly adapt to new systems are essential, as is your capability to stay organised and maintain accurate records in a busy site environment. You will be confident communicating with site teams and facilitating pre-start meetings, toolbox talks and safety discussions in a practical and engaging way.

You must hold a current WA manual driver's licence and be able to pass a full site medical and ongoing drug and alcohol screening, which are non-negotiable requirements for site access.

A current National Police Check is required for this position.

Australian work authorisation is required for this position.

Experience with Form Sumo and 6cloud, auditing exposure and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment will be highly regarded but are not essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct incident investigations and prepare clear, practical reports

• Carry out site audits, inspections, and risk assessments

• Lead toolbox meetings, pre-starts, inductions, and safety discussions

• Support and maintain ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 systems with the support of the compliance team.

• Work closely with site leadership to improve safety culture and outcomes

• Maintain accurate documentation, compliance records, and reporting

• Support client and regulatory compliance requirements
