We are currently seeking a Senior Geologist to join our team at the Lord Byron open pit operation. Reporting to the Geology Manager and working an 8/6 roster, this is a unique opportunity to help establish the Open Pit Geology function from the ground up as operations commence. Suited to a technically capable and proactive Senior Geologist, the role offers significant ownership, leadership responsibility, and the chance to shape geological practices within a new mining operation.

As the Senior Geologist, your key responsibilities will include:

• Lead and establish the grade control function for a new open pit operation, including design and execution of initial and ongoing GC drilling campaigns
• Develop, maintain and continuously improve grade control and geological models, ensuring alignment with mine planning and production requirements
• Supervise and mentor Mine Geologists, Pit Technicians and contractors, driving high standards in safety, data quality and performance
• Analyse drilling, mapping and sampling data to optimise ore definition, minimise dilution and maximise recovery
• Partner closely with Mining Engineers to support short-term planning, reconciliation and operational performance

About You

• Tertiary qualification in Geology or Geoscience with strong experience in open pit production environments, ideally hard rock gold
• Demonstrated expertise in grade control processes, including RC drilling programs, sampling, QA/QC and reconciliation
• Proven experience in geological modelling and data interpretation (e.g. Leapfrog, Vulcan, Surpac, etc.)
• Strong leadership capability with experience supervising Mine Geologists and Pit Techs in a production environment
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Mining, Survey and Processing teams to optimise ore recovery and minimise dilution
