ABOUT THE ROLE

Norton Gold Fields is seeking an experienced and hands-on Haulage Maintenance Foreman to support the safe, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance of our road train haulage fleet across multiple operations.

Reporting to the Haulage Maintenance Superintendent, this role is responsible for leading frontline maintenance teams and contractors to ensure prime movers, trailers, support equipment, and haulage assets are maintained to the highest safety, reliability, and performance standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving equipment availability, reducing downtime, supporting compliance requirements, and fostering a strong safety culture across all haulage maintenance activities

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

Leadership & Team Coordination

• Lead and supervise tradespeople, service personnel, contractors, and maintenance crews across haulage maintenance activities.

• Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to maintenance personnel.

• Support workforce planning, roster coverage, training, and competency development.

• Promote a positive team culture focused on safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 (WA), site procedures, and statutory requirements.

• Conduct pre-start meetings, workplace inspections, field leadership interactions, and safety observations.

• Participate in incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively.

• Ensure compliance with permit systems, isolations, confined space, working at heights, and other critical risk controls.

• Support contractor compliance and adherence to site safety standards.

Maintenance Execution

• Coordinate daily maintenance activities across road train fleets, trailers, converter dollies, water carts, graders, loaders, and associated support equipment.

• Monitor preventative maintenance compliance and ensure timely completion of scheduled maintenance tasks.

• Coordinate breakdown response activities to minimise equipment downtime and production impacts.

• Oversee tyre management activities including inspections, change-outs, and performance monitoring.

• Conduct quality inspections to ensure maintenance work meets operational and safety standards.

Fleet Reliability & Performance

• Monitor equipment performance, reliability, and availability metrics.

• Support defect elimination and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Work closely with planners, engineers, and operations teams to improve fleet performance and maintenance efficiency.

• Assist in identifying recurring issues and implementing sustainable maintenance solutions.

Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting

• Collaborate with Operations, Processing, Supply Chain, HSE, and external service providers to support business objectives.

• Lead toolbox meetings and communicate maintenance priorities to crews.

• Provide accurate shift and daily maintenance reports to the Haulage Maintenance Superintendent.

• Maintain high-quality maintenance records within AMT, SAP, or equivalent systems.

ABOUT YOU

You are a hands-on maintenance leader with strong technical knowledge of heavy haulage or mobile equipment and a proven ability to manage frontline teams in a mining environment.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical (Essential)

• S26 Certificate (Essential)

• Current WA C Class Driver’s Licence.

• Certificate IV in Frontline Management (desirable).

• Senior First Aid Certificate (desirable).

Skills & Experience

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a Maintenance Supervisor, Foreman, or similar leadership role within mining or heavy industry.

• Strong experience with heavy mobile equipment maintenance, preferably within open pit mining or haulage operations.

• Demonstrated leadership and people management capability.

• Experience working with CMMS platforms such as AMT or SAP.

• Strong understanding of heavy vehicle maintenance, reliability, and defect management.

• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
